Postdoctoral position available in Immune responses and Ocular diseases

Context

A two-year (one-year renewable fixed-term contract) postdoc position funded by ANR is available at the Institut de la Vision (IDV) for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying immune dysfunctions in several eye diseases.

The eye is an immune-privileged site, with mechanisms to suppress inflammation for maintaining visual function. However, this privilege can be disrupted in autoimmune uveitis when immune cells infiltrate the eye, leading to potential vision loss. Conversely, in uveal melanoma, tumor cells exploit the eye's immune privilege to evade detection, making treatment challenging. Understanding these mechanisms is crucial for developing therapies that restore immune balance in uveitis and overcome immune evasion in uveal melanoma.

The IDV is one of the leading European research centers focused on ocular diseases. It unites researchers, clinicians, and industry partners under one roof to advance the discovery, testing, and development of treatments and technological innovations that benefit visually impaired patients. Postdocs also benefit from professional development opportunities at both the IDV and Sorbonne University.

The research team

The successful candidate will join the "Inflammation and Immunology in Retinal Diseases" team, a dynamic, diverse, and multidisciplinary research team with expertise ranging from molecular to cellular mechanisms.
