Scientific biography

Matthias Baumann is a vision neuroscientist with expertise in non-human primate electrophysiology, human psychophysics, and perceptual stability across saccadic eye movements. He completed his PhD in Biology at the University of Tuebingen, where he conducted research in the Physiology of Active Vision Lab (Hafed Lab) on how motor and sensory signals interact to support stable visual perception, focusing on structures such as the superior colliculus and primary visual cortex. He is now a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Pieter Roelfsema’s lab in Paris at the Institut de la Vision, where he investigates visual stability using large-scale electrophysiological recordings to uncover how distributed neural circuits contribute to perceptual continuity.
