Open call for a junior research group leader position
Context
The Institut de la Vision is seeking candidates for a Junior Group Leader position with a focus on molecular and cell biology to the field of retinal development and regeneration.
The successful candidate will create her/his own team for developing and implementing innovative approaches to address key challenges in understanding of retinal development and repair. She/he will be recruited as group leaders for a period of 3 years to ease their appointment at French institutional research positions (CNRS, INSERM, Universities). Packages (to be negotiated) for salaries, running and equipment costs, access to state-of-the- art core facilities and laboratory space. Support will be provided for applying to National and International calls within the 3 years period. If not already appointed, the successful candidate should meet the criteria to compete for National and International funding (ANR, ERC…), and for French institutional research positions (CNRS, INSERM, Universities).
Environment:
The Institut de la Vision (https://www.institut-vision.org) is one of the world’s leading centers for vision research and ophthalmology. Located in central Paris on the campus of the 15-20 National Hospital of Vision, the institute offers a unique and collaborative research environment. It houses multiple cutting-edge laboratories, advanced animal facilities, high-tech phenotyping platforms, state-of-the-art imaging technologies, a combined flow cytometry and single-cell sequencing platform, as well as a newly established central facility dedicated to iPS cells and organoids. Affiliated with Inserm, CNRS, and Sorbonne University, the Institut de la Vision is a central hub of the Institute Hospital-University (IHU) FOReSIGHT program. This initiative unites the Institut de la Vision, the 15-20 National Hospital of Vision, several ophthalmology departments across Paris and its surrounding areas to drive translational research in vision science.
The research team
Skills required
- PhD in life sciences with outstanding postdoctoral research experience (up to a maximum of 6 years), ideally in retinal development and/or stem cell biology
- Strong track record of scientific publications
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate research projects with a high level of independence and responsibility, including the supervision and mentorship of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
- Strong motivation to initiate collaborations and actively engage in the local research community
