The goal of my research program is to identify the redox-related regulatory networks controlling the RPC differentiation/homeostasis balance both in an in vivo model, using zebrafish and in an in vitro model of human retinogenesis using human iPSC-derived retinal organoids. Elucidating the mechanisms regulating these antioxidant programs is critical both from a fundamental point of view, but also essential in the understanding of retinopathies or other neurodegenerative disorders involving oxidative stress. We are dissecting the programs regulating the antioxidant activity upstream of neurogenic events to identify the metabolic signature(s) of retinal stem and progenitor cells at different stages of their differentiation. In the long term, our research will evaluate the potential of the identified mechanisms for the development of antioxidant therapies in humans.Projets de recherche
