GREGORY GAUVAIN

Dr Gregory Gauvain is a senior post-doc in Serge Picaud’s Team, he is leading a project of vision restoration using optogenetic tools in partnership with industrial companies (GeneSight Biologics). He obtained a phD in neuroscience (UPMC, 2009) during which he used a combination of imaging techniques (single particle tracking) and electrophysiology (perforated or whole cell patch clamp recordings) to study chloride homeostasis in hippocampal neurons. He then joined Gabe Murphy’s group (HHMI Janelia Research Campus, USA, 2010 -2014) were he was introduce to retina physiology. There he studied retinofugal projection organization in the brain, with an approach combining stereotaxic brain delivery of viral vectors, 2-photon microscopy calcium imaging and patch clamp techniques.
