The animal facility service of the Institut de la Vision maintains a controlled environment, in which animals with defined biological characteristics are housed and manipulated. It is a communal service to fulfill the animal experimentation needs of academic and private research teams in accordance with the legislation in force.
Activities
- Changing the bedding and providing animals with food and water ;
- Cleaning and disinfecting the cages and ensure the maintenance of SPF status ;
- Crosses and maintenance of lines of animals ;
- Following up the investigators’ animal lines (identification, tail samples for genotyping) ;
- Carrying out health controls every three months ;
- Recording the arrivals and departures of animals ;
- Ensuring the correct functioning of the animal facility (environmental factors) ;
- Ensuring that the legislation is respected by the users ;
- Financial management ;
- Ensuring that the internal regulations are respected.

Genetic related ocular pathologies, eg: retinitis pigmentosa, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal prosthesis, usher syndrome, glaucoma.
