Animal Facility
The animal facility service of the Institut de la Vision maintains a controlled environment in which animals with defined biological characteristics are housed and manipulated. It is a communal service to fulfill the animal experimentation needs of academic and private research teams in accordance with the legislation in force.
Biochemistry
The biochemistry platform of the Institut de la Vision manages equipments dedicated to protein biochemistry. It is specialized in protein-protein interactions and provides advice for the implementation and optimization of protocols.
Biological Resources Center NeuroSensCol
The Biological Resources Center (BRC) NeuroSensCol is specialized in collecting, extracting, storing and supplying for research, high quality genomic DNA.
Cell culture
The cell culture platform of the Institut de la Vision is divided in 5 rooms between the 2nd and the 4th floor. There are 4 L1 rooms and 1 L2 where human tissues / cells and virus can be manipulated.
Cellular and Tissular Phenotyping Platform
The platform provides the Institute's teams with high-performance tools, expertise, technical assistance and a technology watch with the aim of supporting the research projects developed at the Institute with state-of-the-art technology.
DNA Sequencing
The sequencing platform supplies a sequencing service for plasmids or PCR products by Sanger sequencing using a machine (3730 DNA Analyzer, Applied Biosystem). The sequencing platform sequence genes, which are associated with different inherited disorders with a main focus on retinal disease: coding exons and flanking intronic regions of different gene are amplified with the use of polymerase chain reaction (PCR)...
High Throughput Screening
The High-Throughput Screening Core Facility (HTS Core Facility) of the Institut de la Vision is a core facility aiming at developing new screening approaches linked to the in-house academic research and to original disease models for large scaled screenings.
Imaging
The Imaging Core Facility of the Institut de la Vision provides access to a broad range of biological imaging solutions for life sciences research. Light microscopes and analysis expertise of the facility members are made available to both academia and industry on a user cost basis.
Phenotyping
The platform aims at supporting research teams in characterizing rodent models of ocular pathologies and evaluating the efficacy of new therapeutic treatments on these models.
Preclinical ophthalmology
The preclinical platform in ophthalmology is dedicated to the exploration and validation of concepts and to the preclinical evaluation of new treatment strategies in the domains of gene, cell and drug-based therapies.
Vectorology
The Vectorology platform is mainly used for producing or manipulating viral vectors in experimental gene therapy both from academia or industry.Viral vectors are used in gene therapy to treat, cure or prevent a disease or a medical condition caused by a deficient or dysfunctionnal protein.Viral vectors are also useful for the study of the effect of a microorganism infection, or the effect of a protein on cell functions or to bring reporter genes into cells.
