The Exploratory Carnot team is dedicated to collaborative research with private and academic partners. The team manages two types of project: short-term projects or services and long-term collaborative projects.

Our team is multidisciplinary and can perform cellular screening, develop in vitro models, study the mechanism of action of molecules as well as conduct in vivo experiments on different cell types (RPE cells, photoreceptors, glial cells…) and models (Abca4/Rdh8 db ko mouse, rd mice…). Our team has developed cellular models to study the function and protection of RPE cells in AMD.

• Using the Abca4-/- Rdh8-/- mouse model to test new drugs for dry AMD: In order to test new drugs as well as to better understand the role of lipofuscin/A2E in dry AMD, our team acquired the Abca4-/- Rdh8-/- mouse model which presents major features of dry AMD, with a rapid phenotype development. We also used this transgenic mouse to develop an acute model of RPE phototoxicty based on the rapid accumulation of A2E in these cells.
