The Vision Institute, a laboratory of excellence
The French Prime Minister François Fillon disclosed the list of laureate university research laboratories that have acquired the label "Laboratory of Excellence" (March 25, 2011). The project "LIFESENCES: senses for a lifetime" coordinated by the Vision Institute and carried by the Foundation "Voir et Entendre" was one of the 100 projects of excellence selected and funded by the government program "Investing for the Future".
The LIFESENSES project specialises in research on the physiology and pathology of the visual and auditory deficits. LIFESENSES goal is to integrate new basic research concepts into clinical perspectives and develop treatments for currently untreatable diseases of the vision and hearing.
The French Prime Minister François Fillon, the Minister of the Higher Education and Research Valérie Pécresse, and the General Commissioner of Investment Rene Ricol visited the Vision Institute and met with researchers from the awarded laboratory of excellence.
