European projects
Listed below you will find the principal European projects in which the Vision Institute was or is still involved. At present, the Vision Institute is coordinating the research projects TREATRUSH and RdCVF and is supported in the management of the consortia by the Voir & Entendre Foundation. Further applications for international research projects are in the making, also with the assistance of the Voir & Entendre Foundation:
RETRAINET Research Training Network (RTN) End: 31.08.2004
The mission of the proposed project RETRAINET aimed at building up the knowledge base in an area of strategic importance, namely treatment strategies for neuroretinal degenerative disorders. In doing so, it promoted interactions between different research laboratories. The project involved core centers and associated laboratories needed to create a critical mass, to promote interactions between basic and applied research and to ensure maximum transfer of knowledge to and from basic and applied clinical sciences
RETNET Research Training Network (RTN) End: 31.12.2007
The focus of the "European Retinal Research Training Network" ('RETNET') was to promote and improve training possibilities in the field of visual neuroscience, molecular biology of the retina and ophthalmo-genetics and to improve our knowledge of retinal diseases that lead to prevention and therapy.
EVI-GENORET Integrated Project (IP) End: 31.03.2009
Functional genomics of the retina in health and disease. The aim of EVI-GENORET was to build on our understanding of the fundamental molecular and cellular biology of the retina, of its development and the way it is perturbed by genetic mutation, environmental factors and age.The goal at the completion of the program is to help integrate a broad and in depth understanding of the function and interactions of major cells and genes networks, thereby proposing functional models.
DREAMS STREP End: 2009
DREAMS is a European project gathering 5 institutes aiming at the development of novel bio sensing interfaces exploiting the bio-inertness of synthetitc diamond. http://www.neurons-on-diamond.org
EuroVisionNet Cooperation Action (CA) End: 31.03.2012
The coordination project EuroVisionNet aims to link the research activities and policies of the European vision research community and to overcome the national fragmentation, therewith intends to become an essential "instrument" for vision research in the 21st century. http://www.eurovisionnet.eu
RETICIRC Collaborative Project (CA) End: 2012
The RETICIRC project aims at investigating by a multidisciplinary approach retinal neuronal mechanisms of vision to find new therapies to restore and preserve vision in blind patients. http://www.reticirc.eu
RdCVF Collaborative Project (CA) End: 28.02.2013
RdCVF is the name of a European research network, which aims at reaching an appropriate clinical s
tage to apply a RdCVF protein therapy in patients with inherited retinal degenerations. http://www.rdcvf.eu
TREATRUSH Collaborative Project (CA) End: 31.01.2014
TreatRe
tUsher is the name of a European research network, which aims at treating and fighting the blindness caused by Usher syndrome. http://www.treatrush.eu
