The Institut de la Vision opened its doors in 2008 with the support of
- The University Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC),
- The National Institute of Biomedical Research (INSERM),
- The Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital
- The National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS)
and with the subsidies of the City of Paris and of the Region Ile-de-France.
Coordination, funding and management of the research projects on visual and auditory disorders, and more broadly on sensory disabilities, are facilitated by the Fondation Voir & Entendre, a foundation for scientific cooperation supported by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, which gathers the Pasteur Institute, INSERM, UPMC, CHNO des Quinze-Vingts and the French Federation of Blind and Visually Impaired People.
The main aim of this foundation is, hand in hand with the Institut de la Vision, to foster collaboration between scientists, clinicians and industrial partners to enable a rapid development and clinical application of technical and therapeutic innovations for the benefit of the patients. The Institut de la Vision is also supported by The French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, The European Commission, The National Research Agency (ANR) (Laboratory of Excellence, Carnot Institute) and numerous other sponsors and associations.
